Dumpster Pricing in Grand Rapids: How Neighborly Hauling Keeps It Simple, Fair & Transparent (Updated 2026)

Dumpster pricing shouldn’t feel like deciphering a cable bill. That’s why we’ve built our pricing model around clarity, fairness, and real-world use — not confusing bundles, hidden thresholds, or surprise overage fees.
At Neighborly Hauling, we separate pricing into three simple components: the dumpster size, the rental duration, and the weight of the debris you actually dispose of. This ensures homeowners and contractors alike pay a fair price — no more, no less.

Container Base Pricing
Each dumpster rental starts with a simple base cost depending on the selected size. This base price includes delivery, setup, driveway protection, pickup, and included weight.
- 12-yard dumpster: $249
- 17-yard dumpster: $249
- 21-yard dumpster: $349
- 25-yard dumpster: $349
We intentionally group our bins into two tiers — 12 & 17 yards for ease of use and heavy residential projects, and 21 & 25 yards for customers who need more room and fewer hauls.
Rental Duration Pricing
At booking, customers choose the rental length that fits their project. Rental time is calculated in 24-hour periods, not calendar days.
- Up to 3 days: Base cost
- Up to 7 days: Base + $50
- Up to 14 days: Base + $80
- Up to 21 days: Base + $100
- Up to 28 days: Base + $120
This structure keeps longer rentals predictable and fair — without daily trip fees or complicated extensions.
Maximum rental without a new order: 28 consecutive days.
Included Weight & Overage Charges
Different dumpsters include different weight allowances, based on how they’re typically used. If you exceed the included amount, overage is charged only for the excess weight, pro-rated to the nearest pound.
? 12-yard & 17-yard Containers
- Included weight: 1.25 tons (2,500 lbs)
- Overage rate: $60 per ton, pro-rated
Example: 300 lbs over = 0.15 tons × $60 = $9
? 21-yard & 25-yard Containers
- Included weight: 2.5 tons (5,000 lbs)
- Overage rate: $60 per ton, pro-rated
Weight is the total weight at disposal. Customers are responsible for all material placed in the bin, including:
- Rain
- Snow
- Ice
- Absorbed moisture in debris
- Materials added by contractors, tenants, neighbors, or others
Scale tickets are provided with the final disposal invoice for full transparency.
Maximum Weight Limits (Operational Safety)
To protect equipment and ensure safe hauling, dumpsters have maximum serviceable limits.
? 12-yard Containers
- Serviceable up to: 14,000 lbs
- Over 14,000 lbs: Overweight Fee
- Over 16,000 lbs: Unhaulable (material must be offloaded)
? 17, 21, & 25-yard Containers
- Serviceable up to: 12,000 lbs
- Over 12,000 lbs: Overweight Fee
- Over 14,000 lbs: Unhaulable
How Swaps (Hauls) Work
If your dumpster fills up early, we can bring a fresh one. A swap (or haul) is treated as a new order using the same pricing structure.
No prorating. No confusion. Just a clean bin when you need it — which is why contractors love working with us.
Real-World Examples: Choosing the Right Rental Length
Roofing tear-off? You’ll fill bins quickly.
- One or two 3-day rentals for fast swaps
- Then a 3–7 day rental for the remainder of the project
Home cleanout over multiple weekends? A 14- or 21-day rental keeps things flexible.
Retail or commercial customer? Longer rentals reduce interruptions and total cost.
One-day project? A 3-day rental gives you buffer without pressure.
How We Compare to Other Dumpster Companies in Grand Rapids
Many haulers advertise “flat-rate” pricing — but those rates often hide padded weight, strict limits, or surprise fees.
Most competitors:
- Bundle more weight that you may not need
- Charge different prices for every bin size
- Hide overages behind fine print
- Require long notice windows
We do the opposite.
- Clear base pricing by size
- Included weight matched to real usage
- Overage charged only if needed
- No hidden fees — ever
It’s not the cheapest-looking price on paper — it’s the fairest final invoice.
“Why Don’t I Just Rent the Biggest Bin?”
Sometimes that’s the right move — but ease of loading and material type matter just as much as volume.
? 12 Yard
- Heavy materials (tile, concrete, soil)
- Tight loading areas
- Small remodels
? 17 Yard
- Roofing tear-offs
- Siding & deck demos
- Contractor projects
? 21 Yard
- Remodels
- Bulky debris
- General renovation waste
? 25 Yard
- Estate cleanouts
- Commercial projects
- Long-term rentals
Height matters. The 12 and 17 are easiest to load. The 21 requires shoulder height. The 25 often benefits from a step ladder.
