Neighborly Hauling
Terms & Conditions
Rental Terms & Fee Disclosure · Effective October 14, 2026
1. Introduction
Thank you for choosing Neighborly Hauling, operated by My Neighbor with a Truck, LLC (“MNT,” “we,” “our”). We strive to provide reliable, safe, professional, and respectful service for every customer.
By renting a dumpster or using any services from MNT, the customer (“Customer,” “you,” “your”) agrees to the following Terms & Conditions and acknowledges responsibility for the condition of the container, the materials placed inside it, and all associated charges.
This document supersedes all prior versions. Effective October 14, 2026.
2. Summary (Non-Exhaustive)
The additional charges customers run into most often are weight overages, extra rental days, mattresses, and tires. Most accepted materials carry no extra fee (see Section 9).
- You will receive two invoices: an Initial Booking Invoice (base cost + selected rental duration) and a Final Disposal Invoice (actual weight + special items + fees).
- Invoices are due within 7 days. After 14 days: 10% late fee (minimum $100). After 28 days: additional 10% late fee (minimum $100). After 42 days: a mechanic’s lien may be filed and 8% APY interest begins.
- You are responsible for all weight in the dumpster, including rain, snow, and ice.
- Nothing may extend above the top of the container. The top of the container is the MAX FILL line.
- MNT installs driveway protection on every order. You are responsible for ensuring the protection stays with the dumpster.
- Damage to the exterior of the container is not normal wear & tear. Wear on the TOP of the rails is normal; damage to the sides or bottoms of the dumpster, the door, the latch, and the sides or bottoms of the rails is not.
- Nothing needs to be declared or disclosed before delivery. Special-handling and cleanup fees are billed on the Final Disposal Invoice.
- Free cancellation with at least 24 hours’ notice before delivery; $50 cancellation fee with less notice (Section 17).
This summary does not replace the detailed terms below.
3. Services Provided
MNT provides dumpster rental, hauling, and disposal services using hook-lift containers. Customer grants MNT the exclusive right to collect and dispose of Customer’s waste materials as defined in these Terms.
Service dates selected online are estimates and subject to availability. Customer must notify MNT when the container is ready for pickup.
4. Definitions
Waste Materials: Non-hazardous solid waste, building materials, and allowable recyclables generated by Customer.
Excluded Materials: Hazardous, regulated, liquid, prohibited, or otherwise restricted materials under Kent County or Michigan law.
Equipment: Dumpster/container and all components provided by MNT, including driveway protection materials.
Container Sizes: MNT containers are named to the industry standard size class and are built with square walls, so each holds more than its name. The public size name and the internal container designation refer to the same equipment:
- 10 Yard = 12-yard container
- 15 Yard = 17-yard container
- 20 Yard = 21-yard container
- 25 Yard = 25-yard container
Either name may appear on invoices, quotes, or prior agreements and refers to the same container.
5. Equipment Ownership & Access
All dumpsters remain the property of MNT. While in your possession, you are responsible for all loss or damage, except for normal wear and tear as defined below. Customer must ensure safe, unobstructed access for delivery and pickup.
6. Normal Wear & Tear
Normal wear & tear includes:
- Scratches and scuffs inside the bin
- Minor cosmetic marks from loading after the floor is covered with debris
- Scratches or normal wear on the TOP of the rails, including from items thrown or slid over the rail
Not normal wear & tear:
- Scratches, dents, gouges, paint damage, or deformation on the exterior walls
- Damage to decals or signage
- Damage to the sides or bottoms of the rails
- Structural damage to walls, floor, door, hinges, rollers, rails, latches, or lift system
- Floor damage from heavy items dropped before the floor is covered
- Chemical spills, paint spills, concrete bonding, scorch/burn marks, or heat damage
7. Driveway Protection & Property Risk
Driveway Protection Installed on Every Order
MNT installs driveway or ground protection (Rolliskate HDPE pads, rubber mats, boards, or similar materials) under every dumpster where feasible.
Customer Responsibilities
Customer must ensure the driveway protection remains under the dumpster at all times, is not removed or repurposed during the rental period, and is available at pickup in good condition. Loss or damage to driveway protection materials may result in replacement charges.
Surface Damage Disclaimer
MNT operates heavy commercial vehicles and hook-lift equipment. Despite our best efforts and use of driveway protection, Customer acknowledges and accepts that the delivery, placement, loading, and pickup of dumpsters may cause property damage, including but not limited to:
- Impressions, ruts, or depressions in asphalt, concrete, pavers, or soil
- Cracks in aging, deteriorating, or structurally compromised surfaces
- Cosmetic marks, scratches, scuffs, or rust marks on driveways or pavement
- Tire marks or surface staining on driveways or paved surfaces
- Ruts, tire tracks, impressions, or disturbed soil on lawns or unpaved areas
- Damage to grass, landscaping, or ground cover near the delivery area
Heavy commercial trucks are difficult to maneuver in residential settings. MNT takes every reasonable precaution to minimize property impact, but Customer agrees that MNT is not liable for any surface or property damage arising from normal delivery, placement, or pickup operations. By scheduling a delivery, Customer assumes full responsibility for any such damage and waives all claims against MNT related thereto.
8. Customer Responsibilities
Customer is responsible for:
a. All Materials in the Dumpster — including items placed by contractors, subcontractors, tenants, neighbors, or visitors. Special-handling items and prohibited materials incur the fees in Sections 9 and 13 regardless of who placed them.
b. All Weight in the Dumpster — including rain, snow, ice, absorbed moisture, and waterlogged materials.
c. Proper Loading — Nothing may extend above the top of the container; the top of the container is the MAX FILL line, and loads above it cannot be tarped or legally hauled. Customer may throw or slide items over the top rail. Heavy items may be placed only after the floor is covered with lighter debris. Customer must follow all rules for concrete loads (Section 9). The rear door may be used for loading and must be closed and latched before pickup.
d. Safety — MNT recommends against climbing into or walking on the load inside the container; debris can shift. Customer assumes all risk of entering the container.
e. Safe Access — Vehicles, trailers, materials, or anything else blocking the container at delivery or pickup may result in a Dry Run Fee.
9. Accepted, Not Accepted, Prohibited & Special Materials
Accepted Materials
Appliances, Box Springs, Building Materials, Construction Debris, Decking, Demolition Debris, Dried Latex Paint (lid removed), Drywall & Plaster, E-Waste / Electronics, Empty Metal Tanks (propane, air, helium, and similar — completely empty), Fencing, Flooring & Tile, Furniture, General Refuse, Household Junk, Lumber & Plywood, Mattresses, Roofing Shingles, Scrap Metal, Tires, and Yard Waste (grass, leaves, brush, and clippings) up to 3 cu yd.
Concrete is accepted only as its own separate load, only in a 10 Yard container. Contact MNT before booking a concrete load.
Soil that arrives incidentally with plants, roots, and cleanup debris is expected and accepted.
Not Accepted
Logs, stumps, whole trees, and timber and tree debris; yard waste beyond 3 cu yd; loads of excavated soil or clean dirt; and concrete mixed with other debris. For these materials, please contact your municipal hauler or a landscaping-debris service.
Prohibited Materials
The following materials are not accepted under any circumstances: Animal Waste, Asbestos, Batteries (all types), Explosives & Fireworks, Firearms & Ammunition, Fuel Cans, Gasoline & Flammable Liquids, Hazardous Materials, Household Chemicals & Solvents, Liquids of any kind, Medical / Biohazard Waste, PCBs & Radioactive Materials, Sewage & Sludge, Used Motor Oil and other petroleum products, and Wet Paint.
Prohibited materials found in the dumpster are billed at the fees listed in Section 13. Hazardous materials may require the load to be rejected entirely. A full list is maintained at reimaginetrash.org.
Special Handling Items & Disposal Fees
The following items are accepted but require separate disposal and carry an additional fee. These fees are passed through at cost from Kent County — Neighborly Hauling does not add a markup. Nothing needs to be declared or disclosed before delivery; special handling fees are billed on the Final Disposal Invoice. Customer is responsible for all special handling fees regardless of who placed the item in the dumpster.
Any disposal fee assessed by Kent County that is not listed above remains the Customer’s responsibility and will be billed on the Final Disposal Invoice. MNT will make reasonable efforts to notify the Customer of any unlisted fees prior to disposal where practical.
No additional charge: box springs, appliances that do not contain Freon, electronics and e-waste other than CRT TVs and monitors, construction and demolition debris, roofing shingles, scrap metal, and yard waste up to 3 cu yd.
10. Pricing Model
A. Base Cost
Dumpster size base cost is listed on the Invoice.
B. Rental Duration
Rental duration additional cost is listed on the Invoice. Available rental terms by size:
Maximum rental without a new order: 28 consecutive days.
C. Included Weight & Overage
D. Weight Limits for Equipment Safety
Maximum serviceable weight is a hauling limit, separate from the included weight in Section 10C.
Exceeding the included weight results in a pro-rated overage charge. Exceeding the maximum serviceable weight results in an Overweight Fee ($100). If the container is too heavy for MNT to lift, Customer is charged the Dry Run Fee ($100) plus a one-week rental fee ($50), and Customer must remove enough material for the container to be hauled within 5 days.
11. Two-Invoice System
Customer will receive:
1. Initial Booking Invoice — includes base cost, selected rental duration, any fuel charge (Section 13), and standard surcharges (if applicable). Due before delivery.
2. Final Disposal Invoice — issued after dump and inspection. May include actual weight overages, special-handling items, additional days, overfill, overweight, dry run, damage, missing driveway protection, and prohibited-material cleanup fees.
By renting a dumpster, Customer authorizes MNT to charge any card on file for these invoices and adjustments.
12. Payment Terms, Late Fees & Mechanic’s Lien
Invoices are due within 7 days. If unpaid:
- After 14 days: 10% late fee (minimum $100)
- After 28 days: additional 10% late fee (minimum $100)
- After 42 days: MNT may initiate legal action, including filing a mechanic’s lien on the serviced property per Michigan Compiled Laws. The unpaid balance will begin accruing interest at 8% APY until fully paid. Customer is responsible for all collection costs, attorney’s fees, and court fees.
No refunds, prorations, or reductions will be given for services suspended due to non-payment.
13. Additional Services & Fees
Current fee schedule. Fees may include, but are not limited to:
Weight & Time
Delivery Distance
Loading & Access
Prohibited Materials Found in the Dumpster
Special-handling item fees are listed in Section 9.
Included at No Charge
14. Indemnification
Customer agrees to indemnify and hold harmless MNT against claims arising from Customer’s negligence, prohibited materials, violations of law, damage to equipment, or breach of these Terms. MNT will indemnify Customer only for damages caused by MNT’s sole negligence. Neither party is liable for consequential or punitive damages.
15. Miscellaneous
- MNT is not responsible for delays caused by weather, equipment failure, accidents, or events outside our control.
- Michigan law governs these Terms.
- Providing a phone number or email authorizes communication regarding service and billing. Text message terms are available at neighborlyhauling.com/sms-terms.
16. Equipment Loss, Theft & Catastrophic Damage
In the event the equipment is stolen, destroyed by fire, or damaged beyond repair during the rental period, Customer is responsible for the full replacement cost of the container. Current replacement value is determined by MNT at the time of the incident and reflects the cost to replace the equipment with a comparable unit.
- Theft: Customer must file a police report immediately and provide a copy to MNT within 48 hours. Customer remains responsible for replacement cost regardless of whether the theft is covered by homeowner’s or renter’s insurance.
- Fire damage: Customer is responsible for full replacement cost plus any hazmat or environmental remediation fees resulting from the fire.
- Unrepairable damage: If MNT determines a container cannot be economically repaired, Customer is billed replacement cost rather than repair cost. MNT makes this determination solely.
- Out-of-service fees: During any period the equipment is unavailable due to Customer-caused damage, theft, or destruction, a daily out-of-service fee applies until the unit is replaced.
17. Cancellation Policy
Customer may cancel an order free of charge with at least 24 hours’ notice before the scheduled delivery. The Initial Booking Invoice is refunded in full.
Orders cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice before the scheduled delivery are charged a $50 cancellation fee. The fee is deducted from the refund of the Initial Booking Invoice.
To cancel, call or text (616) 350-0514. If the truck arrives and the dumpster cannot be delivered, the Dry Run Fee in Section 13 applies instead of the cancellation fee.
