Dumpster Rental FAQ Grand Rapids , MI

Pricing, sizes, HDPE driveway protection, same-day delivery, and what goes in a dumpster — answered for Grand Rapids and nearby West Michigan communities. 10, 15, 20, and 25 yard bins, delivered Monday through Saturday.

Dumpster Rental Basics

They’re named the same, but they hold more. Our bins are built square from top to bottom instead of tapered, so none of the space near the top is wasted. The 10 yard measures a true 12.45 cubic yards, the 15 yard 16.76, the 20 yard 21.30, and the 25 yard 25.14 — more room than the industry standard at each size, for the same price. Weight works the opposite way: the 10 and 15 yard carry the most at 15,000 lbs each, the 20 yard 14,000 lbs, and the 25 yard 13,000 lbs. Dense material reaches a weight limit long before it fills a bin, so the smaller sizes are usually the right call for heavy loads.

Yes to the 10, 15, and 20 — and each holds more than the standard version of that size, because the walls are square from top to bottom rather than tapered. We don’t carry a 30 yard. The 25 yard is our largest bin, sized to fit a standard residential driveway at 93 inches wide by 204 inches long.

It depends on the scope of your project. Small cleanouts and bathroom remodels typically fit in a 10-yard dumpster, while roofing jobs and mid-sized renovations often need a 15- or 20-yard bin. Large remodels, construction projects, or multi-room cleanouts usually call for a 25-yard dumpster. Weight matters as much as volume — if the load is dense, size down rather than up. If you’re unsure, text us and we’ll pick it for you.

The 10 or 15 yard. Shingles are dense enough that a load reaches a weight limit long before it fills a bin by volume, and those two sizes carry the most weight. The 10 yard holds roughly 25 squares of tear-off and the 15 yard roughly 35. Both include tonnage in the base price (1.5 Tons and 2 Tons), and a full roofing load will run past that — the difference is billed at $70 / Ton, pro-rated. Text us the square footage of the roof and we’ll size it for you.

The 20 and 25 yard are available for 3, 7, 14, 21, or 28 days. The 10 and 15 yard are available for 3 or 7 days. Most customers choose a 3- or 7-day rental. If you need more time, text us before your scheduled pickup — extra days are $10 / Day.

We deliver Monday through Saturday, 7am to 7pm, including Saturdays and holidays at no extra charge. Same-day delivery is free when slots are open, and next-day is common. Booking online early is the best way to secure your preferred delivery date. Closed Sundays.

Grand Rapids and the surrounding West Michigan communities, including Ada, Kentwood, Wyoming, Grandville, Walker, Rockford, East Grand Rapids, Cascade, Caledonia, Byron Center, Hudsonville, and Jenison. Our delivery area shifts with fuel prices and how busy we are, so the booking tool is the real-time answer: enter your address and it confirms whether we can deliver there right now.

Our dumpsters accept household junk, furniture, construction debris, roofing materials, drywall, lumber, flooring, tile, scrap metal, appliances, and electronics. Yard waste is fine up to 3 cu yd of grass, leaves, brush, and clippings. Soil that comes along with plants and cleanup is expected, but we can’t take loads of dug-out dirt. Concrete is accepted only as its own separate load in a 10 yard, so text us before you book. Not sure about an item? Check our Is That Allowed? page or text us before loading.

Pricing & Rental Details

Pricing starts at $275 for a 10 yard, $300 for a 15 yard, $350 for a 20 yard, and $400 for a 25 yard — all for 3 days. One simple price covers every job, whether it’s household junk or construction debris. See full upfront pricing. Your price includes delivery, pickup, and a set weight allowance.

Every rental includes drop-off, pickup, a set weight allowance, and HDPE driveway protection boards (Rolliskate™) at no extra charge. Same-day delivery is free when slots are open.

The 10 yard includes 1.5 Tons, the 15 yard 2 Tons, the 20 yard 2.5 Tons, and the 25 yard 3 Tons. That isn’t a hard cap — weight over the allowance is billed at $70 / Ton, pro-rated to the nearest pound. Each bin also has a maximum load the truck can lift: 15,000 lbs on the 10 yard, 15,000 lbs on the 15, 14,000 lbs on the 20, and 13,000 lbs on the 25.

If your dumpster exceeds the included weight allowance, overage is billed at $70 / Ton, calculated at the Kent County transfer station at pickup and pro-rated to the nearest pound. Extra days are $10 / Day. Special-handling items (mattresses, Freon appliances, tires, and tube TVs) have their own flat fees, and anything sticking up above the top of the bin is a $100 overfill fee. See every fee in one place on our Is That Allowed? page.

No. Everything has to sit at or below the top of the bin so the load can be tarped and legally hauled, and anything sticking up above it is a $100 overfill fee. You’re welcome to throw or slide items over the top rail, and every bin has a rear door for walking heavy items in.

Both. Your base price covers a set rental duration and includes a weight allowance. Overages on either — extra days or extra weight — are billed on your Final Disposal Invoice after pickup.

Driveways, Placement & Protection

HDPE Rolliskate™ boards go under every bin on every delivery at no extra charge, so the steel rails never contact your surface, and our hook-lift system lowers the bin rather than dragging it. We operate heavy commercial equipment in residential settings, so we’re upfront that impressions or cosmetic marks are possible despite those precautions.

Dumpsters are most commonly placed in driveways, parking areas, or job sites. Driveway placement is preferred — it avoids permit hassle and keeps your neighbors’ access clear. If street placement is required, a city permit may be needed depending on your municipality.

You’ll need a clear, flat area roughly 50 feet long with overhead clearance. Our truck is 25 feet long and needs room to align squarely behind the bin. The bins are 93″ wide — the 10 yard is 154″ long, and the 15, 20, and 25 yard are all 204″. Not sure about your driveway? Text us a photo at (616) 350-0514 and we’ll tell you right away.

Permits & Local Regulations

If the dumpster is placed on private property, a permit is usually not required. Placement on public streets or sidewalks may require a city permit — local rules vary, so check with your municipality before booking street placement.

Some homeowner associations have restrictions on dumpster placement or rental duration. It’s best to check with your HOA before scheduling delivery.

Prohibited & Restricted Materials

Hazardous materials are never accepted, including batteries, fuel cans, wet paint, household chemicals and solvents, motor oil and gasoline, fireworks, liquids of any kind, asbestos, and medical waste. Each carries a cleanup fee if it’s found in the bin, and hazardous materials can get the whole load rejected. We also can’t take logs, stumps, or whole trees, yard waste beyond 3 cu yd, or loads of dug-out dirt. Empty metal tanks like propane, air, and helium are fine. For the full list with fees, see our Is That Allowed? page or text us at (616) 350-0514 before loading.

Yes to all three. Appliances are free unless they contain Freon (refrigerators, freezers, AC units, dehumidifiers), which are $20 each. Mattresses are $20 each, box springs are free, and tires are $4 each under 42″ and $6 each 42″ and over. Nothing needs to be declared ahead of time. These fees appear on your Final Disposal Invoice at exactly what Kent County charges, with no markup.
