Dumpster Rental FAQs
Pricing, sizes, HDPE driveway protection, same-day delivery, and what goes in a dumpster — answered for Grand Rapids and surrounding communities within 22 miles. We deliver 7 days a week.
Choosing the right dumpster size depends on the scope of your project. Small cleanouts and bathroom remodels typically fit in a 12-yard dumpster, while roofing jobs and mid-sized renovations often need a 17- or 21-yard bin. Large remodels, construction projects, or multi-room cleanouts usually require a 25-yard dumpster. If you’re unsure, our team is happy to help you select the right size.
We offer flexible rental periods from 3 to 28 days. Most customers choose a 3- or 7-day rental, but longer durations are available for ongoing projects. If you need more time, just let us know — we’ll work with your schedule.
In many cases, we can offer next-day or even same-day delivery throughout Grand Rapids and West Michigan. Availability depends on bin size and demand, so booking online early is the best way to secure your preferred delivery date.
Our dumpsters accept household junk, furniture, construction debris, roofing materials, drywall, lumber, flooring, tile, scrap metal, and appliances. Small amounts of concrete (up to 2 cubic yards mixed with other debris) and incidental soil (up to 1 cubic yard) are also fine. If you have a specific material in question, check our restricted items page or text us before loading.
Dumpster rental pricing varies by bin size and rental length. Neighborly Hauling offers clear, upfront pricing with no hidden fees. Your quoted price includes delivery, pickup, and a set weight allowance — so you know exactly what to expect.
Every rental includes drop-off, pickup, a set weight allowance, and HDPE driveway protection boards (Rolliskate™) at no extra charge. We also provide clear guidance on loading and placement to help avoid unexpected charges.
If your dumpster exceeds the included weight allowance, an overage fee applies per ton — calculated at the Kent County transfer station at pickup and billed pro-rated. Extra days, same-day delivery, and special-handling items (mattresses, appliances) each have their own flat fees. We keep all fees transparent and explain limits upfront so there are no surprises.
Both. Your base price covers a set rental duration and includes a weight allowance. Overages on either — extra days or extra weight — are billed separately on your Final Disposal Invoice after pickup.
We take driveway protection seriously — HDPE Rolliskate™ boards go under every bin on every delivery at no extra charge, so the steel rails never contact your surface. Our hook-lift system lowers the bin rather than dragging it. That said, we operate heavy commercial equipment in residential settings, and we’re upfront that impressions or cosmetic marks are possible despite our precautions. We’ll always use every reasonable measure to protect your property.
Dumpsters are most commonly placed in driveways, parking areas, or job sites. Driveway placement is always preferred — it avoids permit hassle and keeps your neighbors’ access clear. If street placement is required, a city permit may be needed depending on your municipality.
You’ll need a clear, flat area roughly 50 feet long with overhead clearance. Our truck is 25 feet long and needs room to align squarely behind the bin for a clean hook-lift placement. Not sure about your driveway? Text us a photo at (616) 350-0514 and we’ll tell you right away.
If the dumpster is placed on private property, a permit is usually not required. Placement on public streets or sidewalks may require a city permit — local rules vary, so check with your municipality before booking street placement.
Some homeowner associations have restrictions on dumpster placement or rental duration. It’s best to check with your HOA before scheduling delivery.
Hazardous materials are never accepted — that includes batteries of any type, wet paint, chemicals, solvents, fuel, propane tanks, tires, and medical waste. We also do not currently accept yard waste (grass, leaves, brush, clippings), timber and tree debris, pure concrete loads over 2 cubic yards, or soil loads over 1 cubic yard. For the full list, see our prohibited materials guide or text us at (616) 350-0514 if you’re unsure about a specific item before loading.
Yes — appliances and mattresses are accepted with a $20 disposal fee each. Declare them at booking so we can handle disposal properly. We pass that fee through at exactly what Kent County charges — no markup. Appliances containing Freon must be disclosed before delivery.
Book online in just a few minutes at our pricing page. Choose your bin size, pricing tier, rental length, and delivery date — no phone calls required. You’ll get an immediate booking confirmation.
No. As long as the placement area is clear and accessible, you don’t need to be present. You’ll receive an SMS with a live tracking link when the driver departs for both delivery and pickup.
Just let us know and we’ll schedule an earlier pickup whenever possible. Text (616) 350-0514 when the bin is ready.
